Today was a great day. Good January weather, golf, fun folks, etc.
But this story is about the past not the present. So the break happened because a ski binding failed to release as I fell forward, twisting off inside the boot. As I slid down the hill leg flopping like a wet noodle I knew that all was not ok. The ski patrol came to collect me, strap me down to a sled, and later assess the damage in the first aid station. There was no doubt it was broke.
Fast forward a bit and saving you the brutal details of the break, hospital stay in New Mexico, attempt to set the break, and trip back to KS, we are now at the surgery.
Unfortunately because of the type of break a surgery was required that held the break together (see photo below). 3 1/2 months of the pins, 7 months of casts, and 2 years later I was almost whole again.
